"You Got Fat!" and Other Airport Greetings

Your body is not a family group project. Here's how to change the subject fast.

You land, you hug, and before your bag is off the carousel someone has reviewed your face, your weight and your skin like it's a Yelp page.

It's usually love wearing a very bad outfit. But you can still redirect. Try: 'Ha, I missed your cooking too. How's your knee?' Ask about them. Elders love being asked about their knees.

If it keeps coming, a calm 'We're not talking about my body today' works. Say it with a smile, then pass them a plate. Peace kept, dignity intact.

Now unclench your jaw.
